Why GOLD is XAU/USD

AU is a generic name of gold and X is a term for all metals you can see all metal in forex start with X. So this whole make a abbrivation for gold to trade in this market.

Well now you can see there are many broker who are keeping it name as GOLD only instead of XAU_USD and even i don't have any idea about it but there must be some reason for it.
