Guarantee, reliability, trust and legality compliance.

Being regulated means there is a regulatory body which is linked to the Government usually oversees their actitivies.

The body applies laws over them, has the power penalise them or investigate them if there is a major complaint about them or they detect some illegal activities taking place within such a broker or any of their staff members... etc.

Hope this answers your question.. NEVER trade with an unregulated broker

Answer to benifits of trading with regular broker is already given.

There is one more thing I want to add which is to further evaluate regulation. Regulation with some Top regulatory authorities like CSEC, FSA, FIRA, SEC (USA) and ASIC etc provide much higher safety level

It really depends on which region the broker is based i.e. FCA in UK and SEC in the US... because if a broker is based in the UK but regulated by the SEC they have no power over the broker.

FSA (Financial Services Authority) is the UK financial regulator, i think its changed its name now to FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) so both are UK.

Whats FIRA? it sounds like a move in the Final Fantasy games

It's a big advantage that we trade in a regulated broker because we have an assurance that our money will not be wasted and scammed. And it's advantage that money are segragated.
